Fares - Standard Hiring

Single hiring for less than 6 passengers (standard taxi-cab); or
Any Multiple Hiring

Melbourne Metropolitan Taxi Fare

Flagfall: $3.20 when meter has started
Distance: $1.526 per kilometre

Detention
: $0.547 per minute ($31.50 per hour) while vehicle speed is below 21 kph
Extras: Entered on metre at start of trip when applicable

Phone Booking
: $1.40 entered on the taxi-meter at the start of the trip.

Late Night Surcharge: A 20% surcharge applies to all hirings which commence between midnight and 5.00 am and is automatically calculated and displayed on the taxi-meter.

Multiple hiring: is allowed with the consent of the first and subsequent hirers. Each Hirer pays 75% of the fare shown on the meter at the end of their particular section of the trip.

 

Silver Service Vehicles - Premium Service, Luxury Vehicles, at your Service.

In addition to the Standard Hiring Fare (See above) an $11 surcharge is added to the fare, reflect a superior level of service and vehicle comfort being supplied to our customer.

 

Wheelchair Accessible Taxis

For customers with a Wheelchair, some vehicle may accomodate 2 wheelchairs, up to 5 passengers.

For wheelchair passengers holding a Multi Purpose Taxi Program M31 card there is a $10 Lifting fee paid electronically to the driver by the Victorian Taxi Directorate in order to compensate them for the extra time involved in safely loading and unloading wheelchair passengers. This fee is Not paid by the passengers.

High Occupancy Vehicles

Distance: $2.29 per kilometre

Time
: 82.1 cents per minute while vehicle speed is below 21 kph
Extras: Entered on metre at start of trip when applicable

Phone Booking
: $1.40 entered on the taxi-meter at the start of the trip.

Late Night Surcharge: A 20% surcharge applies to all hirings which commence between midnight and 5.00 am and is automatically calculated and displayed on the taxi-meter.

Multiple hiring: is not applicable to hirings for 6 or more passengers.

Tolls

Effective 1st January 2008

Western Link: $3.70
Southern Link: $3.70
Both Links (one way trip): $5.70
Batman Avenue: No Toll for taxis.

There currently is a flat Toll of $3.70 for taxis on each section of Citylink. For the Western link between the Westgate Freeway and Tullamarine. For the Southern link between the City and Toorak Road.

GST is included in the metered fare, Telephone Booking Fee, Late Night Surcharge and Citylink Tolls.

Tullamarine Airport Charge: $2.00 (Payable by all arriving passengers)
Pre-booked Metropolitain taxi from Melbourne Airport:- $3.00 (regardless of how long the taxi has been waiting)

   

The Taxi Driver ...

May ask for proof of ability to pay or require a deposit up to the estimated trip cost.
Must provide a receipt when requested.
Must take the most direct route unless otherwise directed by the Hirer.

Lost Property ...
A taxi-driver who finds property in the taxi-cab must, if the property is not claimed, promptly deliver the property to the Victorian Police.
A person who finds lost or abandoned property in a taxi-cab must give the property to the taxi-cab driver.

NOTE: SMOKING IN TAXIS INCURS A $205 FINE.
